Don't miss Helsinki's live music scene - it's rather lively and almost every week (or day) there's a metal band playing somewhere in the city's many live venues. Facebook pages of clubs and meteli.net give a good idea what's happening where and when.
Lot of places offer both - a decent watering hole and live music. For the popular ones, play it safe and buy the tickets online beforehand from Tiketti or Lippupiste, to make sure you won't be left out when the moshing starts. Smaller clubs usually sell the tickets from door. Note that cloak room charge is usually not included in the ticket price.
Helsinki metal night life is a good combination of live venues and bars, so for the ultimate experience check the category "Heavy Night Out" too!
Nosturi is a concert venue in Hietalahti district. Over 120 events are held annually, though not only metal - music can vary from hip hop to black metal and everything between. However, keep your eyes open when searching for metal lives in Helsinki, as many of them are held in Nosturi.
The place is easy to spot after getting off from tram at Hietalahti market square - a big old crane stand in front of the building. That's where the place got its name - Nosturi is Finnish for "crane". Bar downstairs (Elmun baari) offers also food during lunch and dinner times. And in summer, nothing beats few drinks before the concert at their seaside terrace.
This old venue plays a big part in the Finnish rock history and might just be the most famous one in the city. Tavastiaklubi offers music and events few times a week, something for every taste - so keep your eyes open and check the schedule before arriving, if your favorites are playing. Get the tickets beforehand; otherwise you can be left out disappointed!

Everything from smaller rookies to big names, the place also offers stand-up comedy nights every now and then. And don't miss their terrace in summer. You might spot a rock celebrity or two.

Suvilahti | Tuska Open Air Metal Festival
